SHEIKHUPURA: Inquiry ordered against police - Lawyer implicated

SHEIKHUPURA, May 27: District and Sessions Judge Khan Talib Husain Baloch ordered on Thursday an inquiry against Nankana Sahib police officials , who allegedly implicated Tehsil Bar Association member Abdul Rauf and his brother.

Nankana Sahib bar president Rana Ali Asghar and senior lawyers - Chaudhry Barkat Ali and Amin Bhatti - informed the judge that a police party, headed by ASI Ashraf, raided a house in search of an accused and beat up the females.

Meanwhile, they said, Advocate Rauf came there and informed the police that the man whom they wanted to arrest had already obtained his pre-arrest bail from an additional district and sessions judge. This infuriated the raiding team, which threatened the lawyer with dire consequences.

They also said ASIs Ashraf and Rana Afzal registered a case against Mr Rauf and his younger brother for allegedly sheltering the accused. The bar president told the judge that the matter was brought into the notice of Nankana Sahib DSP Shamsul Hassan, but he did nothing more than abusing the lawyers.

The D&SJ has deputed a judicial magistrate to conduct an inquiry into the incident and submit his report at the earliest.
