SIALKOT: Murder case against two ASIs

SIALKOT, May 28: Uggoki police on Friday registered a murder case against its two ASIs, head constable and two constables.

ASIs Maqsood Ahmed and Ikhlaq Ahmed, head constable Muhammad Khaliq and constables Ghafoor Khan and Bashir had picked up Abdul Wahid from his house and took him to police station for his alleged involvement in a dacoity case.

Later, the policemen tortured him to death during investigation. No arrest of the accused policemen has yet been made possible by the Uggoki police. Meanwhile, taking a serious notice of this nasty incident, Sialkot DPO Nisar Ahmad Soraya ordered a strict departmental inquiry in this regard.

STRIKE: Hundreds of patwaris of Sialkot, Daska and Pasrur tehsils on Friday took out a rally in Sialkot in protest against the harsh attitude of Sialkot DOR Nazir Wariyah and naib tehsildar Shahbaz Ahmad Khan.

Carrying placards, the protesting patwaris chanted slogans against the DOR and the naib tehsildar. The protest rally, led by Sialkot district Anjuman Patwarian president Abdul Ghafoor Cheema, ended at district courts.

The patwaris demanded immediate transfer of the DOR and naib tehsildar and vowed to continue their strike till the acceptance of their demand. Youm-i-Takbeer: The PML-N celebrated the 'Yaum-i-Takbeer', sixth anniversary of testing nuclear devices, with zeal and enthusiasm here on Friday.

The main ceremony was held at PML-N's office on Paris Road where party leaders, including central joint secretary MNA Khwaja Asif, MPA engineer Imran Ashraf, ex-MNA Syed Iftikharul Hasan, ex-MPAs Manshaullah Butt, Chaudhry Munawar Gill, Ashfaq Wyne and Sialkot district president Idrees Bajwa cut special cakes. Workers performed bhangra on drum beats.

Speaking on the occasion, their leaders paid rich tributes to exiled leader Mian Nawaz Sharif for making Pakistan a nuclear state. TheY vowed to continue struggle for restoration of real democracy.
