SWABI: 16 transformers to be installed

SWABI, June 8: The Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) would install 16 transformers at different localities of the district under the Rural Electrification Development Programme.

Official sources told Dawn here on Monday that the funds for the installation of 16 transformers had been provided by the union council nazims from their funds.

The transformers, the sources said, would not only reduce the load in various areas but also supply electricity to some far-flung villages in the area. They said the demand order for the transformers and other materials had been issued and the required amount paid to Peshawar Electricity Supply Company.

TWO DIE: Two people were killed and 12 others injured when a passenger coach after colliding with a tractor trolley fell into a ravine near Adina on Tuesday. The coach (Peshawar-3100) was going from Swabi to Mardan.

Two men, Wazir Mohammad and Naveed Ali, died on the spot. The injured were taken to the district headquarters hospital and Kalu Khan hospital. Doctors in the two hospitals said that four of the injured were in critical condition.

PROTEST: Traders and business community here staged a protest demonstration against the raise in licence fee by Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) here Tuesday.

The protest call was given by Anjuman-i-Dokandaran. The traders gathered at Kernel Sher Chowk, passed through the different roads and return to the Chowk again where they were addressed by their leaders.

They chanted slogans against the Tehsil Municipal Administration and raise in licences' fee. Gul Haider, traders' leader, speaking at the protest demonstration said that the Tehsil Municipal Administration had increased the traders' license fee. He said that the protest would continue till the withdrawal of increased fee.
