FAISALABAD: TMA fails to auction tax contracts
FAISALABAD, June 10: The Tehsil Municipal Administration (City) has reportedly failed to complete the process of auctioning various contracts. The contracts included collection of transfer fee of property rights , slaughter house tax, fee for the installation of publicity hoardings.
Insiders revealed here on Thursday that the TMA high-ups had called the tenders a fortnight ago to accomplish the task prior to June 30, as required under the Punjab Local Government Ordinance 2001. But the authorities concerned were allegedly delaying the process due to their own vested interest, they said.
A TMA official, on condition of anonymity, claimed that an influential person of the city wanted to get the contract of transfer of property rights. When contacted, a spokesman for the municipal administration said bids had been invited but the process could not be finalized due to some reasons.
However, fresh tenders would be called through newspapers within a couple of days and the parties concerned invited to take part in the auction, he said.
