FAISALABAD: Complaint centres to wipe out corruption

FAISALABAD, June 20: Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Director-General Brig Muhammad Aslam Ghuman (retired) has claimed that special complaint centres and lock-ups will be set up at the district level under a comprehensive plan to wipe out corruption from the government departments.

Speaking to the participants of an open court here at the local circuit house, the DG said the ACE had been put on the right track and strict action was being taken against the corrupt elements without any fear or favour.

Mr Ghuman said educated and experienced staff would be appointed at the centres to receive complaints against corrupt government employees. He said in the past the ACE had been working just to blackmail the government officials but now it was being converted into a public welfare institution.

He said the police department had become a terror for the people which could be judged from the fact that scores of complaints about illegal gratification were being filed against policemen daily in all districts of the province.

The director-general assured the people that he would approach the Punjab chief minister for taking appropriate action against the increasing incidence of corruption in the police department.

A number of people lodged their complaints with the DG against officials of the police, irrigation, revenue, and other departments concerning bribery and abuse of power. Mr Ghuman issued on-the-spot orders and assured the complainants for taking legal action against the corrupt elements.
