RAWALPINDI: Robbers strike at three places
RAWALPINDI, July 11: Three robberies were committed in different parts of the federal capital, police said on Sunday.
In the first incident, Ehsanul Haq lodged an FIR with Sihala police saying that two armed robbers forcibly entered his house in the early hours of Sunday and held his family hostage.
The culprits then escaped with prize bonds and cash worth Rs75,000, gold ornaments worth Rs15,000, a television set and a camera. In another incident, an education ministry official was robbed of Rs360,000 in broad daylight in the Margalla police area.
Mohammad Nasir Khan, the robbery victim, told police that he and his friend were heading home in his car after drawing cash from a private bank in Blue Area when three persons travelling in another car intercepted them and snatched the cash at gunpoint.
In the third incident, the house of a Pakistan Television (PTV) official was ransacked by a gang of four robbers in sector G-9/4 on Sunday. Masood Akhtar lodged an FIR with the police saying that four robbers entered his house and held his family at gunpoint.
The robbers then snatched cash, jewellery and a mobile set before escaping. Meanwhile, two robbers snatched a car from its owner at gunpoint from Kashmir Road Saddar. Mohammad Shakil told Cantonment police that he was on his way home when two persons intercepted him on Kashmir Road and forced him to give up the car keys.
