KOHAT, July 13: A budget of Rs706.419 million was presented in the Zila Council for the fiscal year 2004-2005 with an allocation of 3.63 per cent for new development projects on Tuesday.
The district government decided to complete the unfinished development schemes of the past by utilizing the leftover funds worth Rs19.617 million during the current fiscal.
The council meeting was chaired by Haji Sardar Khan. Giving details about the budget allocations, Malik Asad, district nazim, told the house that Rs621.946 million had been set aside for non-development expenditures whereas Rs25.763 million would be spent on development schemes during the current year.
He said that the district government generated Rs36.413 million from its own resources whereas the remaining amount was provided by the federal government. Malik Asad informed the meeting that Rs8.2075 million, which could not be utilized last year, would be spent on schemes through community development boards.
Similarly Rs1.316 million would be used to complete the Khushal Pakistan projects and Rs10.0935 million for other schemes. The nazim regretted that the performance of the government employees, who consumed the major chunk of the budget every year, was very disappointing, and they had failed to discharge their duties honestly.
