LARKANA, July 20: A party constitued by the district and sessions court on Monday recovered eight persons illegally detained by the Kambar police at a house in the Tahir Mughiri village, near Pakho.

Those recovered were identified as Shabiran, Allahdino, Shaukat, Rashidan, Sumiran, Amiran, Noor Nabi and Darya Khan. Munir Ahmad Mughiri, a resident of the village, had filed a petition before the court on Monday, saying police had illegally detained his relatives.

The sessions judge appointed Pir Bakhsh Khokhar as the raid commissioner. The raid commissioner told this correspondent on telephone on Monday night that during his surprise visit, he found the eight persons, including six children, illegally detained at the house.

He said ASI Hussain Ali Brohi failed to produce any documents, showing the arrests. He said the detainees were released and the ASI was asked to appear before the court on Tuesday. It was learnt that police had detained them in connection with the kidnapping of Santosh Kumar.

COLLEGE: A meeting of education officers held here on Monday decided to start B.Sc classes at the Government Economic College for Women on the Airport Road. Participants of the meeting were told that the district government had allocated Rs73.800 million for improvement of existing colleges under the Annual Development Programme. DCO Dr Baddaruddain Ujjan presided over the meeting.

DROWNS: A five-year-old boy, Rustam Ali, drowned in the Tanvri Shakh near Shahdadkot on Monday. The body was fished out and handed over to relatives. In another incident, Illahi Bakhsh Veesar, 10, was injured when a roof of house collapsed at the Tank chowk area of the city.
