MULTAN: Over 100 booked for attacking MDA team

MULTAN, July 21: More than 100 people have been booked by the New Multan police for attacking an anti-encroachment squad of the Multan Development Authority (MDA).

Police sources said MDA land officer Ikram Baloch reported that he along with assistant directors Ziauddin and Abdul Qayyum were supervising an anti-encroachment operation in block J of New Multan on Tuesday night when more than 100 armed people, including Manzoor, Maqbool, Maqsood, Ishaq, Bashir, etc., attacked them and their staff.

They injured Ziauddin and Salim Akhtar, set the MDA's tractor-trolley (MNR-3650) to fire and damaged the official jeep (MNG-105). The assailants fled the scene on the arrival of a police contingent. Police have registered a case without any arrest.

BODY FOUND: The body of an elderly man was found hanging with a rope tied to the ceiling in his house in Maachhian Wala, Zakariya Town, on Wednesday morning.

Gulgasht police said Karim Bakhsh, 55, a labourer, had tense relations with his wife Gulzar. Police had yet to determine whether he committed suicide or he was murdered. They have taken his wide into custody for interrogation. -APP
