KHAIRPUR: Farmers continue protest
KHAIRPUR, July 23: Tail-end growers of Khan Wah, Sadarang Wah and Shahnawaz Wah took out a procession in Thari Mirwah town on the second day of their protest on Friday against water shortage in their area.
The farmers said there had been no water for their crops for a long time. They demanded that water should immediately be provided for their crops. The growers of Sunhero Wah also staged a demonstration against water shortage outside the press club on Friday.
SEMINAR: An interactive seminar on food safety system with special reference to date processing will be held here at the Sachal auditorium on July 24.
EPB director M.E. Jalbani told newsmen on Friday that the seminar organized by the Export Promotion Bureau would discuss managing food safety issues, reducing wastage, increasing profitability, protecting and enhancing brand image, exploring new markets, promoting consumer confidence and conforming of export market requirement.
BOOKED: Some 36 farmers of Mangio Shakh and Weho Wah water channels were booked by the police in two separate water theft cases on Thursday. On the complaint of Ayub Shaikh a case has been registered at the Ahmedpur police station against 12 growers of the Mangio Shakh.
Those booked were include Hussain Bux, Hassan, Maula Bux Phulpoto, Mubeen Ahmed, Abdul Karim, Nabi Bux, Abdul Rasool, Khair Mohammad, Peeral, Ibrahim, Arz Mohammad and Shahan Maitlo.
In another case, the Darogha of Weho Wah, Bux Ali Soomro, registered a case at the Thari Mirwah police station against Naveed Awan, Gul Mohammad Jalalani, Mujahid, Majeed, Nasrullah Lashari, Ibrahim Khaskheli, Karim Dad Jalalani, Ali Nawaz, Ali Mohammad Khaskheli, Rasool Bux Qambrani and others. It may be mentioned here that some 82 farmers have been booked in the last three days in water theft cases.
