FAISALABAD: Dist govt rapped for ban on wagons

FAISALABAD, July 26: A tug of war going on between the district government and Tehsil Municipal Administration (City) took a new turn when the latter passed a resolution condemning the ban imposed on plying of wagons on routes of metro buses.

During a session of the TMA (City) held here on Monday with Naib Nazim Muhammad Ilyas Ansari in the chair, councillors Ghulam Bheek Awan, Sikandar Azam and others blasted the district government's step of imposing ban on wagons.

They said the step had been taken just to provide an opportunity to an influential group running metro buses in the city and far-flung areas. There was no justification to replace the wagons with big buses.

How it could be justifiable that a shop should be closed down by force for the success of another shop in the area. They said this trend would open a new Pandora box and small businessmen would be kicked out for the advantages of the big business entrepreneurs.

Some days ago, City Tehsil Nazim Mumtaz Ali Cheema had blamed the district government for patronizing an influential transporter of metro bus service by imposing a ban on wagons. He also claimed that the metro buses were not being challaned by the traffic police.
