GUJRANWALA: Lawyers boycott courts

GUJRANWALA, July 28: Lawyers boycotted courts across the Punjab on Wednesday in support of their colleagues' demand for transfer of Gujrat DPO on the call given by the Pakistan Bar Council.

The lawyers held a meeting in the Gujranwala bar room and adopted a resolution unanimously demanding the transfer of Gujrat DPO Raja Munawwar. Their leaders said they were on strike for the last one-and-a-half-month but the government paid no heed to their demand. They pledged that they would continue their protest till the acceptance of their demand.

SARGODHA: Lawyers observed strike after 10am to express solidarity with the Gujrat Bar members against the government attitude. They undertook urgent cases till 10am. Later, they held a special meeting and condemned the government for showing undue favour to Gujrat DPO.

BAHAWALPUR: Members of Bahawalpur high court bar and district bar associations observed strike on Wednesday on the call of Pakistan Bar Council and Lawyers Joint Action Committee to express solidarity with their Gujrat colleagues.

They also condemned the Punjab government for its apathy for not transferring the Gujrat DPO. Lawyers of HCBA stayed away from courts after 10.30am while the DBA members struck judicial work after 11am. Obliging the striking lawyers, the courts adjourned their cases.

SAHIWAL: The District Bar Association boycotted courts here and demanded in a meeting immediate transfer of the Gujrat DPO. They threatened the administration that they would take out a protest procession if their demand was not met.

TOBA TEK SINGH: Lawyers here observed complete strike on Wednesday and condemned the registration of fake cases against the Gujrat Bar office-bearers by the DPO.
