RAWALPINDI: 'UAA focusing on quality education'
RAWALPINDI, July 30: The University of Arid Agriculture (UAA) vice-chancellor, Prof (Dr) Khalid Mahmood Khan, has said the varsity is focussing on quality education.
Talking to journalists, who visited the arid university on Thursday, he said the university had made the 'field internship' compulsory for final semester students to meet the requirements of their profession and practical life.
The UAA vice-chancellor said the institution would launch many new courses and disciplines keeping in view the market trends while the curricula of all the disciplines had been updated on modern lines.
"We are also collaborating with organizations of national and international repute for academic and research purposes and also with international universities like University of Hebbi, China, so that scholars would have a global vision and cope with international standards," he added.
He said along with agriculture education as its major mission, the university was also providing education in the field of management sciences, information technology, computer sciences accepting their importance as agricultural supporting fields and many other disciplines keeping its standard high as multidiscipline institution.
He apprised them of different development activities including shift in research priorities, revision and re- orientation courses, strengthening of laboratories, research grants and improvement of central library.
Speaking on the infrastructure development, the vice- chancellor told the journalists about different ongoing projects like structuring of research labs, extension of boy's hostel, establishment of food and research lab and display centre, completion of faculty residence and construction and expansion of academic block.
