HYDERABAD: SU to offer language courses

HYDERABAD, Aug 2: The University of Sindh has decided to introduce certificate courses in Persian and Hindi languages in the old campus in Hyderabad.

The classes will be held for three days a week in evenings, certificate course will be offered for a period of 10 months and admission procedure will be announced soon.

This was decided at a meeting held on Monday, presided over by Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui and attended by Dean of the Faculty of Arts Professor (Dr) Qazi Khadim Hussain and Director of the Institute of Languages Dr Hafiz Abdul Ghani Shaikh.

The meeting discussed an offer received from the Khana-i-Farhang for extending cooperation in introducing Persian language course. It also discussed availability of Persian teachers in the university as well as hiring of the language experts from outside.

The meeting decided that for teaching of Hindi language, help and services of Professor Ilyas Ishqi, Professor Himayat Ali and Dr Nasim Ara Sartaj would be sought. For the syllabus of Hindi, the director of the Institute of Languages will contact the University of Karachi for consultation and help.
