SUKKUR: Derailments disrupt rail traffic

SUKKUR, Aug 6: Two bogies and a heavy railway crane of a goods train were derailed near the Sukkur railway station on Thursday night. The accident damaged half-a-kilometre portion of the track. Rail traffic between Sukkur and Rohri and Jacobabad was suspended for five hours.

The trains which were stranded at the railway stations of Sukkur and Rohri included the Quetta Express, the Sukkur Express and a passenger train. Later, a crane was called to the site of the derailment by the railway authorities, which cleared the tracks.

OUR MIRPURKHAS CORRESPONDENT ADDS: The Mirpurkhas-bound 14-down passenger train derailed near Fazal Bhambhro on Friday. However, no loss of life was reported. The train, which met the accident was coming to Mirpurkhas from Naokot. The railway officials and workers reached the site of the derailment and started work to clear the tracks.
