SAHIWAL, Aug 6: Yousafwala police on Friday registered two cases against a union council Nazim and his eight accomplices for attempting to kidnap a councillor and injuring his two sons at Chak 67/5-L.

As per reports, the councillors of union council No 22 had presented a no confidence motion against their Nazim Altaf Ugguana. On Friday, a meeting of the councillors was going on at the residence of Bagh Ali when the accused Nazim along with hired men, including Zafar, Hafiz, Murtaza, Razzaq and Sarfraz, came there.

They shot and injured Nazim's sons Abdul Mannan and Ali Sher, who were present on the rooftop to perform security duty. They also returned the fire as a result of which Zafar Ahmed died on the spot.

Altaf Ugguana and his accomplices had also snatched a motorcycle from telephone operator Abdul Qayyum near Chak 82/5-L when they were on their way to councillor's house.

FOUR KILLED: Four people, including a lady councillor, were killed while as many sustained injuries in two different road accidents here on Friday. A fast travelling car (BNA-1303) overturned on the Sahiwal-Pakpattan Road near Chak 80/D.

Resultantly, councillor Abida and her brother Zahid died instantly while her sister Zohra and three children Imtiaz, Fayyaz and Bushra Zahid received injuries. They were admitted to hospital.

On GT Road near Chak 9/11-L, a speeding car (SLG-9555) ran over bicyclist Bashir Yasin. He died on the spot. Meanwhile, an unidentified boy, aged around 10 years, who had been hit and injured by a speeding bus some 10 days back, died in hospital. Police have registered separate cases.

SUICIDE: Three youths committed suicide in different incidents here on Friday, Sajjad of Gaoo Shala, Chichawatni, was upset for he had been jobless for quite some time. He jumped before Multan-bound Moosa Express and ended his life.

Amjad of Bothana village, also jobless, took poison. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he died. Javed of Church Road took poisonous pills after a quarrel with his father. He was taken to hospital where he died. Police have taken the bodies into custody and started investigation.
