SAHIWAL: Ex-servicemen appointed by education department
SAHIWAL, Aug 9: The Punjab education department has appointed retired officers of the army, navy and the air force on a three-year contract as divisional and district coordination officers. They will get monthly salaries of Rs20,000 and Rs16,000, respectively.
A notification issued recently read that these officers would separately establish their checking cells at the divisional and district levels to take stock of purchases (including furniture) of the department.
Old furniture lying at offices and other assets the department had would be checked and verified from the departmental stock registers. The headmasters and other officials responsible for shortage or alleged pilferage would be brought to book, the notification said.
The divisional and district coordination officers would have the powers to get the cases registered for the shortage of the material. The coordinators appointed at the divisional headquarters are: Ms Robina Mazhar (Rawalpindi), Syed Mazhar Shah (Sargodha), Shoaib Iftikhar Ahmad (Lahore), Asif Abbas (Multan), Muhammad Ali Younis (Dera Ghazi Khan), Faisal Murtaza (Faisalabad), Rab Nawaz (Bahawalpur) and Muhammad Nawaz Zeeshan (Gujranwala).
At the district headquarters level, as many as 33 former servicemen's appointment has been notified.
