SUKKUR: 30pc water shortage at Sukkur, 40pc at Guddu

SUKKUR, Aug 17: Canals off-taking from the Sukkur Barrage will experience about 30 per cent shortage of water because of the receding Indus river level. Similarly, off-taking canals of the Guddu Barrage will face 40 per cent shortage owing to the fall in the river water.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, chief engineers of the Sukkur and Guddu barrages, Noor Mohammad Shah and Javed Taibani, said the water requirement would be met by imposing a rotation programme on various irrigation canals and channels. They said such a situation would prevail for a period of one month.

NAZIM: District Nazim Nasir Hussain Shah will inaugurate an intensive care unit at the Civil Hospital on Aug 20. DCO Abdul Qadir Mangi stated this while holding a meeting with health officials here on Tuesday.

The meeting reviewed the progress of construction work of the ICU. It was informed that an amount of Rs1.195 million had been incurred on the construction of scheme under the KPP-II.

The ICU comprises six beds, besides, a room for doctor's duty, changing room, oxygen room, storeroom, and lavatory. The meeting was informed that development work of addition and alteration of the Civil Hospital had also been started and about 50 per cent work of the OPD had been completed.

The DCO directed the district officer, buildings, to ensure completion of development work as per required parameters so that the same could be completed in a systematic manner.

CLASH: Around 11 persons including a woman were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers in Budhal Khan Lodho Goth near Pir-jo-Goth. The two groups had recently fought over a minor dispute which led to Monday's clash in which hatchets and sticks were used.
