BAHAWALPUR: Rs200m grant for hospital released
BAHAWALPUR, Aug 22: The Punjab government has released a financial grant of Rs200 million for the two main projects of the Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital. It was learnt that the grant would be utilized for the installation of angiography and MRI machines in the hospital.
According to Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar, MMA's deputy parliamentary leader in the Punjab assembly, these machines will be added to the existing CCU for the convenience of cardiac patients. In addition, he said a new dialysis centre would also be established at the BVH.
ARRESTED: The local police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a bandit who allegedly shot dead a youth and injured his father during a dacoity bid in their house at Muhammadi Colony here on Saturday.
However, the police could not arrest Ahmad's accomplice so far. It may be mentioned that the arrested dacoit had opened fire on Mudassar and his father for putting up resistance.
FESTIVAL: A two-day "Cholistan heritage" festival will commence from Oct 1 at Noor Mahal and Darbar Mahal palaces here. The festival will be jointly organized by Caravan Heritage Foundation, UNESCO and the district government with a view to project the fertile civilization and culture of Cholistan.
On this occasion, the school children from various institutions will present sketches, fancy dress shows, regional songs and the history of the defunct Bahawalpur state. For this purpose, the representatives of these three institutions at a meeting held here on Sunday finalized the programmes which would be made attractive for the general public.
