SUKKUR: Protest against doctors' report - Call to re-examine rape victim
SUKKUR, Aug 23: Hundreds of people, including Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz activists, held demonstrations at the bus terminal and outside the press club here on Monday.
They were protesting against doctors of the Sukkur Civil Hospital for making a wrong report of the medical examination of a girl, Saima, who was allegedly gang-raped on Aug 12. They demanded suspension of the doctors and a re-examination of the girl.
It was learnt that a police team investigating the Saima case proposed to constitute an independent medical board to re-examine the girl. In this connection, the DPO, investigation, has sent a letter to the director-general, health.
DEMO: Teachers and students held a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Monday against police for failing to recover Zahid Hussain, who was kidnapped on Aug 16.
Speaking on the occasion, the father of the kidnap victim, Zamir Hussain, principal of the Government Vocational School, Sukkur, said his son was on his way to the LU Biscuit Factory when gunmen intercepted and kidnapped him.
He said police authorities were not cooperate with the family as the kidnappers were demanding Rs500,000 for his son's release, and threatening them with dire consequences if they did not pay the amount. Earlier, a protest rally, led by schoolteachers, demanded early recovery of Mr Hussain.
