MULTAN: TDCP gets back land after seven years

MULTAN, Aug 25: The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab has got back the possession of 16-kanal tract around its motel seven years after it was occupied by some tribal area people at Fort Munro, officials said on Wednesday.

"We are now considering to develop this area around the TDCP motel to establish a camping site for tourists," said an official, adding all this was possible due to sincere efforts made by managing-director Irfan Ali and help of the Fort Munro political assistant and the revenue department officials.

"Fortunately there was no construction on the tract, but only markings of plots laid there by the occupants." The TDCP had now put its own marking to declare its possession.

The area was occupied in 1996-97 by some people, who fixed stones at the boundaries as marking of plot despite the fact that construction around the motel and the nearby lake was banned to keep the beautiful sceneries, this hill station within the sight of people from the camping site and motel.

Located on the north side of main Fort Munro town, the camping site gives the beautiful view of the Dames lake and the Anari Hill, besides other mountains and planes. A fence would be erected around the proposed camping site by fixing concrete poles with metallic wires passing through it. And to increase its strength, it would be further covered by the fencing of a plant that animals do not eat. -APP
