DADU: Medical camps set up at Manchhar

DADU, Aug 31: The district health department and an NGO established three medical camps in the Manchhar Lake area on Tuesday, which attracted hundreds of people suffering from different diseases.

According to reports, the district health department established a medical camp at Bund Manchhar near Bubak and another in the Girkano village, which were manned by Taluka Health Officer of Sehwan Dr Moin Siddiq, Dr Ghulam Rasool Daudpoto and Dr Mohammad Ramzan Jahejo.

The Kachho Welfare Organization established third camp at zero point of the Manchhar Lake. The EDO of health said that the lake water was polluted and should not be used for drinking purpose.

Dr Siddiq said that his department had taken water samples from Bund Manchhar and Girkano village and sent them to laboratory for tests. He said that the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences authorities had been asked to send specialist doctors to the area.

On the occasion, some patients said that proper medicines were not being provided in the camps. Pir Bux Babbur, president of the Kachho Welfare Organization, said that 500 patients of different water-borne diseases had reported at the camp established by his NGO.

Provincial manager of the Basic Development Needs programme of the World Health Organization Dr Khadim Hussain Lakhair said that the WHO had established a health unit in Bubak for the fishermen.
