HYDERABAD: UC nazims asked to submit uplift plans
HYDERABAD, Sept 8: District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman has asked union council nazims to get development scheme of up to Rs1.3 million each approved from their councils and submit them to the district government by Sept 20.
A meeting held here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of the nazim reviewed schemes costing up to Rs3.7 million in each union council carried out in 2002-2003, schemes up to the cost of Rs1.3 million launched in 2003-2004 and schemes to be carried out in 2004-2005.
Mr Rafiquzzaman told the union council nazims that they could include schemes of roads, water supply and sewerage in their proposals. He said 52 out of 65 development schemes launched in 2002-2003 in union councils of the Latifabad taluka had been completed and work on the remaining schemes was near completion. He said work on some of 17 development schemes of Latifabad, approved in 2003-2004, had also been started.
The district government has now invited proposals for development schemes to be undertaken in union councils this financial year. He ordered blacklisting of a contractor on complaints of UC nazims regarding delay in completion of development works.
He asked officials concerned not to compromise on the quality of development works. He said uplift works should be completed in all respects, adding that he would pay surprise visits to the schemes.
