LARKANA: 111 doctors' posts in Chandka vacant
LARKANA, Sept 10: Senator Mohammad Ali Brohi, the chairman of the Senate's standing committee on environment, held an open kutchehri here on Thursday.
Apprising Mr Brohi about performance of the Chandka Medical College Hospital, medical superintendent Dr Captain Shahbaig Chandio said 111 posts of doctors and 106 posts of paramedics were lying vacant in the hospital.
The taluka municipal officer, Larkana, told the senator that 250 posts of lower staff in the Taluka Municipal Administration needed to be filled. The participants made complaints about excesses of Wapda, police, PTCL and other departments.
The district officer, sports, Mohammad Hussain Makani, said PC-I for construction of a stadium in Ratodero and a swimming pool at the Kuhura Complex, Larkana, had been prepared and sent to higher authorities for approval. Mr Brohi said a campaign should be initiated to ensure cleanliness in the city.
SCHEMES: The District Development Working Party at a meeting held here on Thursday reviewed development schemes of agriculture and planning and housing sectors. The meeting approved four development schemes, which would cost Rs8 million.
An amount of Rs3.5 million will be spent on construction of a veterinary centre in Bhanis Colony and renovation of a veterinary centre and dispensaries in Naudero, Ratodero, Kamber and Shahdadkot.
A sum of Rs4.5 million will be spent on construction, renovation and improvement of residential quarters in the premises of the collectorate building. CO Abdul Razaq Qureshi, who presided over the meeting, directed the district officer, buildings, to prepare PC-I for the schemes. The DDWP would hold another meeting on Sept 16.
WATER SHORTAGE: Farmers, particularly those whose lands are located at tail-end of channels, fear that the decrease in water level of the Warah Canal will have a negative impact on their crops.
