KHAIRPUR: 17 booked for chopping tree

KHAIRPUR, Sept 16: A case was registered against seventeen people, including the SDO irrigation, Priyaloi sub-division, on Wednesday for cutting trees along waterways.

The executive engineer of the irrigation west division lodged an FIR with the B-section police against the SDO irrigation, Mohammad Bux Memon and Darogho Imam Dino Shaikh. The complainant stated in the FIR that the two irrigation officials along with 15 unidentified persons cut trees worth Rs50,000 along the Faiz Wah.

WATER ROTATION: The executive engineer of the irrigation east division, has issued a rotation programme for channels on the basis of availability of 50 per cent water. According to the schedule, Sanhro wah, Kobri minor, Bilawal minor, Bilawal minor, Sada Rang wah, Sanesa minor, Lashari minor, Ratter minor and direct outline system of Faiz Ganj from RD-90 to RD-105 will remain closed from Sept 17 to Sept 24.

PPP: People's Party Parliamentarians provincial president Qaim Ali Shah has said that Shaukat Aziz may be a good technocrat but he is not a good politician and prime minister.

Speaking at a public meeting at Phool Bagh here the other day, he said that Mr Aziz's cabinet was the biggest ever in the history of the country and alleged that the ministers and advisers were engaged in looting public exchequer.

If the expenditure incurred on the cabinet members was disbursed among jobless graduates, none of them would remain jobless, he said. He asked how could President Gen Pervez Musharraf provide protection to the people as he could not prevent attacks on himself.

He said that President Musharraf had made a commitment with the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal for taking off the uniform but the ministers, just to protect their offices, were advising him not to take off the uniform.
