MULTAN: Murder accused killed in 'encounter'
MULTAN, Sept 16: An alleged bandit was killed on Thursday in an encounter with law enforcers in the Esanwala jungle along side the riverine belt of the Indus river.
Muzaffargarh police claimed that the shootout lasted for an hour and ended with the death of robber Sadiq alias Sona Sandhela while his accomplices beat a retreat. They further claimed that one of the five fleeing bandits was injured.
They said that some highwaymen had shot dead motorcyclist Akmal Gurmani and injured his brother Sajjad on resistance in the limits of Kot Addu police station a few days ago. The condition of injured was still stated to be serious at the Nishter Hospital.
Although, the Kot Addu police had registered a case on the report of deceased's another brother Majid, the victim family launched a hunt on its own to track down the culprits.
On the information of the Gurmanis early on Thursday morning, the Mehmood Kot police raided a house in Esanwala to arrest the culprits. Seeing the law enforcers, the dacoits opened fire on them which was returned. As a result, ring leader Sadiq died instantly while his accomplices managed to escape after a shootout of nearly one hour.
MIAN CHANNU: A robber was killed by the firing of his accomplices near Chak 15/145-L on Thursday. According to the APP, the police said that three robbers were looting people after setting up a picket.
Meanwhile, three labourers - Ishaq, Mushtaq Hussain and Mulazim Hussain reached there and caught hold one of the bandits. In a bid to get their accomplice released, the two other robbers opened fire in panic. Consequently, a bullet hit their accomplice Khurshid Ahmad, killing him instantly. However, the culprits managed to escape from the scene.
