RAWALPINDI: Kahuta accident: death toll reaches 18

RAWALPINDI, Sept 19: The death toll in Saturday night's road accident near Kahuta rose to 18 after six of the injured died in the wee hours of Sunday, police said.

According to the initial reports, 12 people had been killed while 18 injured, but as the rescue operation continued three more bodies and at least 12 injured persons were rescued from the wreckage of the bus.

Meanwhile, three of the injured, who had been shifted to District Headquarters hospital and Rawalpindi General Hospital, also died in the early hours of Sunday, rising the death toll to 18.

Police said the bus (LHP-870) overcrowded with pilgrims feel into a ravine near Kahuta on Saturday while heading towards Rawalakot from Narowal.
