MINGORA: Shortage of teachers in Swat

MINGORA, Sept 26: The standard of education in Swat is declining because schools and colleges in the area have shortage of teachers, specially for science subjects.

The problem was so severe in the Government Girls Degree College, Saidu Sharif, that the students there had no choice but to move to other colleges in the province. Some teachers for teaching science subjects were appointed while a number of subjects relating to social sciences were yet to be taught in the college.

The parents told this correspondent here that lecturers for chemistry, botany and other subjects were not available. They have demanded that the education minister and the director of education should take notice of the situation and arrange sufficient staff for the college.
