SUKKUR: Security steps for religious moot

SUKKUR, Oct 7: Strict security measures have been taken for "Difa-i-Sahaba Conference", scheduled to be held in Khairpur on Saturday under the auspices of the Millat-i-Islamia Pakistan at the Madressah of Allama Ali Sher Haideri.

The regional police officer, Sukkur, Rahoo Khan Brohi, on Thursday visited the area and called for tight security measures for the conference. He also reportedly asked officials to persuade Allama Ali Sher Haideri to postpone the conference in the wake of recent wave of terrorist acts at religious places.

But Madressah sources said the conference would be held according to the schedule under security of their guards. Maulana Mohammad Waris, father of Allama Haideri, was killed some four months ago in Khairpur. Followers of Allama Haideri have been demanding arrest of the killers.
