KHAIRPUR: Shortage of water termed artificial

KHAIRPUR, Oct 10: Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz vice-chairman Syed Mujtaba Shah Rashdi has said that an artificial shortage of water has been created in Sindh.

Talking to journalists at his residence in Pir Jo Goth on Sunday, he alleged that the water shortage in Sindh was a political drama staged by the federal government to create disputes among people over water share.

He said the shortage of water in the River Indus would cause huge losses to people of Sindh. He agreed with Sindh National Front leader Mumtaz Bhutto that Sindhi nationalist leaders had lost the battle of words but said that Mr Bhutto himself was maintaining double standard because he had called upon people to join him in the march towards Minar-i-Pakistan.

Regarding his party's understanding with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, he said there should be cooperation between the two but it was also a fact that the MQM, which was in power, was not sincere to the cause of Sindhi people because it had not provided jobs or development schemes outside Karachi. He said the landlord class of Sindh had always proved to be opportunist.
