KOHAT: Lawmaker to boycott function for Durrani

KOHAT, Oct 10: NWFP Chief Minister Mohammad Akram Khan Durrani is due here on Monday on the invitation of MPAs Shad Mohammad Khan of Pakistan People's Party and Syed Qalb-i-Hassan of the Awami National Party.

He is expected to announce some development schemes for Lachi Town and Ustarzai areas in speeches at public meetings there. Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam MNA from Lachi Town, Mufti Ibrar, had said he would boycott the function to be held at the residence of Shad Mohammad Khan.

In a press release issued here on Sunday he said since the chief minister was to visit his constituency he should hold the meeting at his place. The visit comes in the wake of claims made by the JUI-F and the Jamaat-i-Islami alleging that Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao was trying to topple the government in the NWFP.

The ANP had expelled Qalb-i-Hassan for what the party alleged selling his vote in the Senate elections. However, he is still the deputy parliamentary leader of the ANP in the NWFP assembly because the party had not sought the removal of his name from the list of its MPAs.
