KASUR: Teacher succumbs to burn injuries

KASUR, Oct 11: A school teacher of Mandi Usmanwala, who was allegedly burnt after rape by four people, succumbed to her injuries at the Mayo Hospital, Lahore, on Sunday night.

Her body was handed over to her heirs after autopsy at the Kasur DHQ Hospital on Monday. Doctors' findings were still awaited. The Khudian police have already arrested accused Amjad Kumhar, Qurban alias Mithu, Imran Ashraf and Ali Hassan, who allegedly gang-raped the 21-year-old teacher before setting her ablaze.

The accused during investigation alleged that the girl had developed illicit relations with Amjad Kumhar and later made a suicide attempt. Meanwhile, DPO Khadim Hussain Bhatti told Dawn that the accused had now been booked under 302/24 of the PPC.

KILLED: A minor girl was run over and killed by a speeding motorcycle-rickshaw here on Monday at Jodh Singhwala, Pattoki. Police said Jamila Bibi along with her daughter Farah (8) was crossing the road when the rickshaw hit the latter, killing her on the spot.
