NAWABSHAH: Demand for job regularization
NAWABSHAH, Oct 13: A group of ad-hoc watchmen of the food department took out a procession here on Wednesday, demanding regularization of their jobs. Led by Jam Bhatti and Allah Bachayo Leghari, the procession emerged from the godowns of the department and culminated at the district food controller's office.
The protesters were carrying placards and raising slogans against the government. They said that they had been working for 12 years and despite promises by government functionaries, their services had not been regularized. They further said that they had not received salaries for three months and uniforms for seven years.
RELEASE DEMANDED: Activists of the Asif Zardari Release Committee took out a procession here on Wednesday, demanding release of the People's Party Parliamentarians leader.
Led by PPP district president MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio, the procession started from Gharibabad and culminated at the Regal Chowk. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Chandio said that Mr Zardari had been languishing in prison for eight years for no reason.
IMPERSONATOR HELD: A man impersonating as a police officer was arrested in the office of the Pakistan Oilseed Development Board here on Wednesday. Ghulam Shabbir Chandio entered the office of the deputy director of the PODB and told him that he was a police inspector from Hyderabad.
He told deputy director that he could recover the valuable items stolen from his home if he was paid some amount. The official informed personnel of an intelligence agency who reached there, picked Chandio up and handed him over to the A-section police.
