FAISALABAD: Degree programmes in banking, finance

FAISALABAD, Oct 15: The Government College University, Faisalabad, is launching two degree programmes in MS and BS in Banking and Finance in collaboration with the Institute of Bankers Pakistan and the Bank Alflah.

This was stated by university vice-chancellor Dr Asif Iqbal Khan while talking to newsmen here on Friday. He said the GCU would start the classes of these courses in the last week of this month.

He said the Bank Alflah would extend salary support to the staff whereas the Institute of Bankers would provide technical information. He said after successful completion of the course, students would be provided internship in the Bank Alflah and other financial institutions.

The vice-chancellor said after the launching of MBA and BBA programmes, the university had now offered admission to nine regular study and research programmes in M.Phil leading to Ph.D.

The disciplines in which this programme is being launched through evening classes include botany, Arabic, chemistry, physics, Islamic studies, English, Urdu, Zoology and Pakistan studies.

He said the university had also launched Masters in Industrial Management which was second one after Karachi. The programme had been launched after a thorough study of the requirement of the local industry with a view to produce students for middle and higher management in various industries. He said over 800 applications were received from the students for admission to the programme.
