DADU: 'Load shedding has ended'

DADU, Nov 17: Federal Minister for Water and Power Liaquat Jatoi has said that power load shedding has ended throughout the country and it has surplus electricity now.

He was addressing a public gathering and talking to newsmen in Chakar Khan Sehole village of Mehar taluka on Wednesday. The minister claimed that after taking over the charge of the ministry, he had resolved a dispute over water distribution among provinces and equal share of water had been given to each province for the Kharif and Rabi seasons.

He said that after installation of telemetry system at water works, no province would steal water share of other province. He said that the government was going to constitute a national water council to ensure fair distribution of water and control embezzlement in repair works in the irrigation network.

He refuted charges levelled by the opposition leaders that he had been awarded water ministry to sell water share of Sindh and claimed that he had provided more water to Sindh as compared to the previous governments.

He said that leaders of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal and Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) were opposing the uniform of President Gen Pervez Musharraf but they had not opposed Gen Ziaul Haq's uniform.

He said that President Musharraf wanted to serve people, invite more foreign investment to the country and improve relations with other countries. Mr Jatoi said that there was a need that people should follow real leaders who were providing better services to them. He said that land of the Kachho area was very fertile but due to shortage of water, hundreds of acres of the land had remained uncultivated.
