KHAIRPUR: Power breakdown sparks protests

KHAIRPUR, Nov 23: A large number of residents of different Mohallas and colonies, including Abid Colony, Butero, Shaheedabad, Faizabad Colony and Serai Ghanwar Khan of Khairpur town, took out a procession here on Tuesday against the breakdown of power supply for about 15 hours.

Talking to newsmen, leader of the Shehri Ittehad Syed Akbar Abbas, Jagrita Forum secretary Aijaz Bhutto and others said that the city feeder-I of Hesco Luqman sub-division has failed to supply power regularly to 30 Mohallas of Khairpur town.

They complained that the power supply of the feeder remains suspended whenever there is a fault in Thehri, Karamabad and other areas, which are away from Khairpur. They said that a new feeder was approved in July 2004 but the Hesco construction division has not started its work as yet.

INJURED: Two persons, Nadir Hussain and Mohammad Iqbal,were injured in a clash between two groups of Talpurs over a piece of land near Bozdar Wada on Tuesday.
