SUKKUR: Kidnapping bid foiled by villagers

SUKKUR, Nov 23: Timely intervention of armed villagers foiled bandits' attempt to kidnap two men from Khuda Bux Brohi village in the Madeji area of Shikarpur district on Monday night.

Khamiso Brohi and Khair Jan Brohi were guarding rice crop outside the village when a group of armed bandits raided the field and kidnapped them. On hearing cries of the hostages, armed villagers came to their rescue. Sensing danger, the dacoits opened fire which was returned by the villagers.

The exchange of fire continued for one and a half hour after which the dacoits fled, leaving behind the hostages. Later, the Madeji police reached the village and reportedly chased the dacoits but no arrest was reported till the filing of this report.

HOSTAGES RECOVERED: Police, Rangers and Frontier Constabulary personnel continued operation against outlaws at the Sindh Balochistan border area on Tuesday and recovered two kidnap victims, Gul Hassan Noonari and Manzoor Ahmed Buriro.

DPO of Jacobabad Din Mohammad Baloch told this correspondent on telephone that they had been kidnapped on Monday during the operation for recovery of Shahzado Sarki and Muhabat Ali Sarki, who had been kidnapped on Saturday. He further said that police detained 37 persons and destroyed dozens of what he called outlaws' hideouts.
