SIALKOT: Expats share funds for road project

SIALKOT, Nov 24: The District Development Committee on Wednesday approved the construction of eight-kilometre long 20-foot wide Sialkot-Chaprar Road at a cost of Rs20 million.

Sialkot tehsil Nazim Akmal Cheema told newsmen that the Pakistanis settled in the US have donated Rs4 million for the project. The remaining amount would be provided by the Citizens Community Board.

He said the project would be completed in three months. The Sialkot TMA has allocated special development funds of Rs100 million for the completion of various projects through the CCBs in Sialkot tehsil's rural and urban areas.

VISIT: Twenty-three delegates of Global Forum for Sports and Environment (G-For SE) will visit the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Friday.

They will meet the businessmen to discuss "how the sports industry and its partners can organize themselves in leading the drive to improve their systems of manufacturing in order to protect the environment in Sialkot."

Those who will visit the city include Michel Perraudin, president of World Federation of Sporting Goods Industries (WFSGI); Andre Gorgemans, secretary general of WFSGI and FIFA officials Hartmut Stahi and Christian Hochfeld. The delegates will also visit the leading industrial units in Sambrial, Uggoki and the city.
