FAISALABAD: Ten rusticated students fined

FAISALABAD, Nov 30: As many as 10 students out of 18 who were rusticated from the University of Agriculture were awarded various penalties here on Tuesday for their involvement in in discipline and misconduct cases.

Abdul Jabbar, Mohsin Hussain, Tanveerur Rehman, Rashid Bashir Kamran, Asif Iqbal and Mansoor Asghar Ali were fined Rs5,000 each and Mumtaz Ahmed Rs4,000. Similarly, Husnain Farooq and Tariq Ismail were fined Rs3,000 each. All the students have been placed on probation for the rest of their stay in the university while their hostel accommodation has also been cancelled.

The university management found them gathering 'illegally' for political activities, show of power, disobedience of university administration, creating a law and order situation at the campus, quarrelling with fellow students, and promoting the banned student organizations. The students have been ordered to deposit their dues immediately after the issuance of notification against them otherwise their names would be struck off.

Administrative Officer Ikhlaq Ahmed Sabiri in the notification says "in exercise of powers vested under the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Students (Discipline and Conduct) Regulations, 1978, and on the recommendations of the Disciplinary Advisory Committee, the undersigned being competent authority hereby imposes penalties upon following students of this faculty for having been found involved in indiscipline and misconduct cases."

However, Muhammad Arshad who was suspended from the university rolls on Oct 29 and Nov 11 this year, has been allowed to resume studies immediately after exonerating him by the disciplinary committee.

Meanwhile, Islami Jamiat Talaba divisional Nazim Bashir Naz in a statement alleged that the administration was deliberately creating a law and order situation at the campus for their personal interests.

He said a group of university officials had some 'individual clashes' with the students and some professors due to which they were bent upon ruining the future of the students. He demanded of the Punjab governor to take stock of the situation and redress the complaints of the students.
