HYDERABAD: Nazims asked to get schemes approved by councils

HYDERABAD, Dec 13: District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman has called upon nazims of union councils to get development schemes of up to Rs2.5 million cost approved by their councils and submit them to the district government.

He was speaking at a meeting held to review development schemes of the City and Latifabad talukas. The nazim said that of proposed schemes of up to Rs2.5 million cost, tenders of schemes of Rs0.9 million would be floated in Dec 2004. He said the remaining schemes of Rs1.6 million of each union council would be taken in hand subject to availability of funds from the Sindh government.

The nazim said as many as 177 development schemes were implemented under the development portfolio of Rs3.7 million and Rs1.3 million for each union council of which 72 development schemes of the City taluka and 57 of Latifabad taluka had been completed. The work on 19 schemes of the City taluka and 29 of Latifabad taluka was in progress, he added.
