HYDERABAD: LUHMS sets up medical camp in Johi

HYDERABAD, Dec 29: A team of skin specialists and medical experts from the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, under the directives of its vice chancellor , set up a medical camp in Johi on Monday and provided treatment to 500 patients suffering from leishmania and other skin diseases.

According to a spokesman for the university, the medical camp was established in collaboration with an NGO, the Dadu district government and health department. The six-member team of the university professors provided free medicines to the patients.

The spokesman said that since 2001-2, more than 12,000 cases of leishmania had been detected in the area. A health awareness seminar was also held in Johi at which medical specialists discussed preventive measures and guide lines for the treatment of patients.
