THATTA: Polluted water spreads diseases
THATTA, May 27: The people of Mirpur Bathoro and its vicinity are using contaminated pond water as the only filter water supply scheme is lying inoperative for the last two years.
The use of dirty water has caused stomach, throat and skin diseases.
From the relevant documents of the Mirpur Bathoro Union Council, it was learnt that work on the Rs8 million water supply scheme was started in 1987 by the public health engineering department and continued till November 1992.
As the work on the scheme has not been carried out according to the initial plan, people are still not getting hygienic water from the reservoir and the pond, which has an area of 625,000 square yards, has become a pool of dirty water.
Water is still supplied to the area from an old filthy water reservoir.
KIDNAPPED: Three armed men kidnapped Seth Kishan Chand from his hilly terrain in Jhampir town on late Sunday night.
Kishan Chand, along with Aishwardas, was riding on his motorbike when the outlaws intercepted and kidnapped him. The outlaws also took away his motorbike.
The outlaws, however, did not kidnap Aishwardas.
The outlaws are believed to be members of dacoit gang of Ali Khoso.
