FAISALABAD: Clash between two DBA groups intensifies
FAISALABAD, Jan 5: The tug of war going on between two groups of the District Bar Association intensified on Wednesday as they suspended membership of each other over a housing society.
Two bar members Abdul Hameed Cheema and Chaudhry Noor Ahmed Pannu had filed a complaint with the PBC executive committee alleging that DBA President Muhammad Husain was involved in irregularities and nepotism over allotment of plots.
These members circulated a photocopy of the orders of the bar council issued by the superintendent with signatures of members Tahir Mahmood and Rao Muhammad Jamil in which it was pointed out that the president had been restrained from performing the functions. Lawyer Rana Ishfaq Ahmed was given the temporary charge of the president till next polls, orders said.
These orders were also pasted on the DBA notice board and the main wall. However, some of the lawyers challenged the validity of the orders. On the other hand, Mr Husain alleged at a news conference that a group of lawyers with the connivance of some agencies falsely prepared the PBC notification just to stop him from raising voice over the issue of a high court bench in Faisalabad.
Mr Hussain suspended the membership of three lawyers - Abdul Hameed Cheema, Noor Ahmed Punnu and Rana Ishfaq Ahmed - for creating law and order situation in the bar room and issuing the fake notification. He also refuted the allegations and added that all the affairs were being run by him in accordance with the law and prescribed rules.
