GUJRANWALA: Medical officer dismissed from service

GUJRANWALA, Jan 11: A medical officer of the District Headquarters Hospital was dismissed from service on Tuesday for his involvement in humiliation of two nurses at a ward.

Reports said a group of nurses complained to the MS that MOs Dr Khizer Abbas and Dr Muhammad Arshad entered their ward and humiliated two of them on night duty. The MS conducted an inquiry by a five-member team of doctors on whose report he dismissed Dr Khizer and directed Dr Arshad to report to the executive district health officer.

One-window operation: The government will set up seven more regional offices to provide one-window operation facilities to taxpayers across the country while one is being set up here at the income tax complex.

This was said by a spokesman for the income tax regional complex at a briefing here on Tuesday. He said five regional taxpayer offices were already working in the country.

The spokesman said the third storey of the complex would be completed till June this year. The offices of regional commissioner, eight income tax commissioners and 17 additional commissioners would be accommodated in the same building to provide facilities to taxpayers through one-window operation.

He said cases of sales tax, central excise and customs would also be settled here. Meanwhile, the tax bar association and traders appreciated the government's decision for setting up more taxpayer offices.
