HARIPUR: Three policemen suspended

HARIPUR, Jan 11: The district police officer Haripur has suspended two constables and a head constable in sub inspector's murder case and sent them to quarter guard as a punishment here on Tuesday, official sources said.

During a raid on a house in village Changi Bandi on the night of Jan 7, Sub Inspector Sufi Safdar Zaman of police post Shah Maqsood was gunned down by one Khurshid Khan, an alleged drugs dealer, while other party members namely Head Constable Khan Mohammad, constables Aurangzeb and Lal Afsar had reportedly fled from the scene of the incident and did not try to rescue their in charge or nab the alleged killer.

According to police sources the DPO Raja Mohammad Naseer had taken notice of the incident and suspended the three police personnel and sent them to quarter guard on the charges of official negligence, irresponsible attitude, bringing bad name to the force and professional cowardice. The DPO also deputed DSP investigation Nasim Afzal as investigation officer in this case and asked him to submit report within seven days.
