SAHIWAL: Four killed as van hits trolley

SAHIWAL, Jan 19: Four people were killed and 10 others sustained injuries, four of them serious, in a road accident on Sahiwal-Faisalabad Road near Basti Nawaz De Khui on Wednesday.

A speeding wagon (MNK-9517), coming to Sahiwal from Faisalabad, collided with a tractor-trolley (OKC-5117). As a result, Ghulam Hussain, Sabiraan of Arifwala and Hakim Saeed of Sahiwal died instantly while Aamna perished at the DHQ Hospital, Sahiwal.

While the injured, including Shoaib, Ilyas, Sagheeran and Samina, were admitted to DHQ Hospitals in Gogera and Sahiwal. Drivers of both the vehicles managed to escape from the scene. Police have registered a case.

HOUSE LOOTED: Four masked bandits looted a house and injured inmates on resistance at Chak 164-A/9-L on Wednesday. Armed bandits barged into Anwar Javed's house, held the inmates hostage and started collecting cash and valuables.

For holding them out, the bandits injured Anwar, his maternal uncle Bahawal and other family members with butts of rifles. Later, they escaped with cash and ornaments worth Rs142,000. Ghaziabad police have instituted a case.

INJURED: Four people injured with clubs a traffic police constable in Timber Market near Grain Market here on Wednesday. The accused hit repeatedly with clubs constable Tauheed Khan as soon as he came out from his house. The motive behind the incident could not be known. Grain Market police are looking into the matter.
