ISLAMABAD: Murree again receives snowfall
ISLAMABAD, Jan 24: One of the famous hilly resorts of the country, Murree again received snowfall on Monday providing more attraction to the tourists.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said Murree, Northern Areas and Galliyat had received light snowfall while more was expected within the next 24 hours.
It said more rainfall was expected in upper Sindh, NWFP, lower Punjab and Balochistan. Due to heavy downpours and snowfall, temperature in Abbottabad dipped to -5, while in Murree it was -7 and in Skardu -14.
The Margalla hills had already received six inches of snow after a gap of six years. Murree received three feet and Galliyat four feet of snow. The Northern Areas including Kaghan, Naran, Kalam had two feet of snowfall.
Kaghan, Naran, Skardu, Kalam and Malamjabba have also received good amount of snowfall. Another two rain spells are expected during the next month. An official of the PMD said the current rains in the country would improve the quality and quantity of wheat and other Rabi crops. He said most parts of the country had received sufficient rains, which was imperative for good wheat and other Rabi crops.
