RAWALPINDI: Man gets death sentence

RAWALPINDI, Jan 31: Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Sardar Hussain Malik here on Monday awarded death sentence and five years' imprisonment to a man for killing a trader after kidnapping him from Lahore.

According to the prosecution, Rana Sarwar had kidnapped Tahir Hafeez for ransom from Lahore, brought him to a house in Barakahu and killed him. After killing the trader, Sarwar fled abroad; however, he was brought back to the country after his arrest by the Inter pol.

Meanwhile, the same court remanded three Chinese nationals for three days in the murder case of a Kazakh diplomat. Sapargali Aubakirov was shot and critically injured by some unknown persons at his residence on January 19. He was admitted to Pims where he died later.
