PPP leaders criticize Musharraf on Kalabagh

KARACHI, Feb 1: The executive committee of the Pakistan Peoples Party (Sindh chapter) on Tuesday rejected President Pervez Musharraf's stance on Kalabagh dam and slammed the government for pursuing deceptive policies , vis-à-vis Balochistan crisis and rights of smaller provinces.

In a resolution, adopted at a meeting presided over by the provincial president, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, the PPP maintained that Gen Musharraf's statement on Kalabagh were not acceptable to the people of Sindh.

The meeting reviewed the prevailing law and order situation and the upcoming local government elections and the dangerously deteriorating Balochistan situation and put the onus on the government for such a state of affairs.

The PPP slammed the government for not pursuing dialogue process honestly and instead threatening the people with use of force. The meeting also adopted a resolution condemning the kidnapping of a PPP activist Zafar Khan from Orangi town and subjecting him to torture.
