Party is united in Chitral: PPP

CHITRAL, Feb 2: A committee, constituted by PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto to diffuse the tension in the party ranks in Chitral, held interviews with the party workers who had gathered in hundreds from all over the district.

The committee consisted of a former provincial minister from Punjab, Ghulam Abbas, PPP Parachinar chief Dr Riaz and former MPA Begum Shahazada Sulaiman. The committee turned to senior workers to ascertain their views to appoint new district president of the PPP for four candidates were aspirants.

They were Haji Aziz, Mohammad Hakeem Advocate, Haji Zahir Shah and Imam Abdul Waheed. The results would be announced after the approval of Ms Bhutto, sources said. Soon after the meeting, the committee members and PPP district president Eidul Hussain addressed a press conference. They said that the party was united and Chitral would remain a stronghold of the PPP.
